Benchmarks

The Project: Circle of Learning

Website: Benchmarks

The Circle of Learning: Saskatchewan Adult Literacy Benchmarks Levels 1 & 2 serves as the basis for consistent practice and evaluation in adult literacy programming across Saskatchewan. The Benchmarks are used in publicly funded Level 1 and 2 programming. The Circle of Learning offers a wide variety of tools and provides a framework for contextual planning, evaluation and instruction for adult literacy practitioners. It honours the diversity and strengths of adult learners, providing opportunities to direct their own learning and to make changes in their lives as a result. Revisions to the Circle of Learning were completed in 2016.

The Ministry of Education’s 2016-17 Saskatchewan Community Literacy Fund call for proposals is now closed. The Saskatchewan Literacy Network provides leadership and support to organizations that apply for and receive funding.

Strengthening Rural Canada

Using the latest Census and National Household Survey (NHS) data, the initiative is investigating the connections between human capital – the value of an individual or populations’ skills, knowledge and experience to an organization or country – and rural growth in communities across Canada.
