Thanks for celebrating Family Literacy Day 2023 with us! This year’s theme, set by ABC Life Literacy Canada, is “Celebrate Your Heritage” so we chose a book that’s based on heritage in Saskatchewan “Li’l Shadd: A Story of Ujima”! On January 27th, we celebrated with the Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum, to hear stories about Dr. Shadd and learn more about this part of our shared Saskatchewan heritage.

Family Literacy Day is January 27 every year! For information about this year’s theme, and activities around the province through the Saskatchewan Family Literacy Hubs, visit our Family Literacy Day in Saskatchewan main page.

Livestream!

On Family Literacy Day (January 27), we heard this story and learned more from the Saskatchewan African Canadian Heritage Museum and co-author Alix Lwanga! Watch the video here.
