Literacy in Community

Literacy in community happens outside of workplaces, home life, and formal education. The need for community literacy programs is defined by the communities themselves, and includes offering literacy training, building awareness of issues related to literacy, and providing literacy services. We believe literacy is a basic human right, and that literacy solutions are a social responsibility.

We know that it takes all of us working together to address literacy challenges so that we can see positive change and build stronger, more resilient communities for everyone.

The Saskatchewan Literacy Network strives to support community initiatives and connect stakeholders with the resources and learning opportunities they need to thrive in their communities.

This is where you will find information about the different forms of literacy, benchmarks, community initiatives, and more information about what literacy looks like in Saskatchewan communities.
